  • Where do you find your vintage, antique, and collectibles?
We handpick every piece from estate sales, local clients, and thrift shops linked with great organizations likeHabitat for Humanity. Each item has its own story and charm - we try to add some background information to our listings when we can. That said, if there's no story on the listing of the item that's caught your eye and you'd like to the exact provenance, please reach out! We're happy to share the story and all the facts in our private catalog.
  • Are these items genuinely vintage, antique, or collectible?
Yes! To be specific: Vintage typically refers to items more than 50 years old. That said, some types of things might considered vintage at 25+ years old (e.g., vintage tech, pop culture items from the 80s and 90s, etc.) Antique items are those more than 100 years old (or thereabouts.) Collectibles are items of any age that people tend to prize and search out. Whether it's vintage, antique, or collectible, the key is that it is authentic and that it is in sellable condition. Simply, the item faithfully matches the description. Our team carefully verifies each find. There's a reason we have 100's of listings and not 1000's of items for sale... we spend a lot of time making sure we know exactly what it is, where it came from, and anything else of significance. If we aren't sure and can't determine what it is, we say so. We strive to be totally transparent and deliver exactly what the listing describes. We pride ourselves on offering authentic vintage and antique books, art, décor, handbags, and jewelry.
  • Do you ever mis-identify an item?
Not often! Twice so far. When we find a mistake, we a) say so b) fix it and c) make any and all efforts to ensure our customer is happy and, if there's any question, made whole. We're here because we love doing this, and we want you to love working with us!
  • Do you use stock photos in your listings?
No - we only use photos of the actual itme you're purchasing. The photos are part of the description and show the item details and the particulars of the condition. We spend a lot of time documenting each item visually, so that you can see exactly what it looks like. Condition is often a bit subjective - vintage items typically have some wear, and what is perfectly acceptable to one person is not to another. For example, if you're buying an antique bread bowl because you want to use it to make bread then you'll have a very different sense of what the condition should be vs if you're purchasing an antique bread bowl as a piece of art or decor. Either way, we want to provide all the information you're looking for.

  • What's your personal seller service?
For a very small number of select clients, we can act as a personal seller... meaning, our clients want to sell their items but don't want the hassle of listing, shipping, etc. If you're interested in this service are geographically located in New England, please email us at vintagehomeglow@gmail.com. Our roster is often full but we do occasionally have open spots, and even if not we may be able to point you to another personal selling service in your area.
  • How does your personal selling service work?
When we onboard new clients, we provide detailed process information and a simple consignment selling contract. Once the formalities are in place, people give us stuff to sell :) and we give them a receipt. Once a month we provide a sales report, updated inventory, and a check for their share of the proceeds!
  • What kinds of things can I sell via your personalized seller service?
Vintage, collectibles, antiques, handbags, clothes, jewelry, and lots of other stuff too. For anything that we suspect may be exceptionally valuable or unique. we might request assistance from an auction house or certified dealer. Some items require very specialized knowledge or equipment to identify and value, and we are very serious about our ethical obligation to do right by our clients. We do not sell certain types of things (e.g., hazardous materials, weapons, or anything too risque or that has certain historical associations.) This is not a judgment - just a reflection of our brand and what we like to focus on - we spend a lot of time on our wares, and so we naturally focus on things we enjoy and appreciate.
  • If I have something to sell, can I just sell it to you directly?
We have strict rules that do not allow us to purchase or accept items from our clients. It's just cleaner to keep our seller service very strictly defined, so everyone knows what to expect. If you're not a personal seller client and you have something you think we might want to buy, please drop us an email at vintagehomeglow@gmail.com
